The soft focus is perfect for this.

Well, if there was a twister on the horizon, I'd be following that double yellow line as far away as possible. ;o)
I agree with Jack, love the soft focus.

Amazing scenery, the use of hdr captured the mood and light in an awesome way. Love the composition as well... great job :)

Love the mood with this Orton"Y" style. Very dramatic and foreboding. I think I'd be getting near some shelter.

I love this shot and the processing. I love the fact that your HDRs don't look like the stereotypical HDRs (reminds me of our discussion the other night). I actually have to look at your keywording or study the image to determine if it is an HDR image, which is a good thing. But....the utility pole and power lines really detract from the image. They draw my eye right to them and I would clone them out.

29 Jan 2009 2:51pm

@Russ Devan: I actually thought of that - but I like that they almost delineate the dark sky from the light sky and hey, I'm not a total purist but they were there, and so sizeable I dare not try to clone around!

I love the composition and the softness of the shot

Good morning Betsy, Love the image and processing! Although Russ makes a nice point, I like the rural look of the scene with the wires. The additional repeating lines help to reinforce your viewers direction.

I pick up a sense of motion and change in this photo. I like the sharp clarity of the road, that yellow line all but sizzles. And then there's the softer look of the vegetation and impending storm clouds. Great contrasts.

Super dream quality to this! How did you do it?

Framed and Shot from Houston, United States

Great mood in this shot, a "painted like" look to it. We think (unlike some comments above) that the mast and cables add to the frame. They lend some dark and straight lines to a very soft and curvy frame. We like it.
