Chasing Butterflies

Posted by
Betsy Barron (Philadelphia, PA, United States) on 28 June 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

I think this is my new favorite 'portrait' of my children. Always a big fan of the non-posed portrait (preferring candids or even just a hint of a cheek or toe...) I shot this in the early evening on our recent vacation in the mountains. My daughter has a thing for nakedness. Lookout world.

All the world’s a stage. Self-taught, still photographer Betsy Barron is a 80s child recalling the simple, natural pleasures of being outside and watching the light on her world. She’s a decades-long Philadelphia artist who combines her eye for form and function with the calm aesthetic of a passer by. Guided by light and lines with impact, her work speaks to the worth of daily pleasures and absorbing your field of view.

Betsy’s photography is part of many private and corporate collections in Philadelphia and New York. In 2014, she was selected to lead a fine art photography initiative with a worldwide luxury retailer.
She lives and works in suburban Philadelphia. See more at MY WEBSITE

Hey Betsy..as you say,pal..candid shots are a great way to portray kids..there's no pretence or awkwardness in front of the lens..
Luv's the light on this shot..
I took a look at your exhibition portfolio..and I must say that your Lake shot is amazing,pal..that was my favourite..:-)..
Thanks for adding me to your blogwatch,also...my work can be quite diverse most of the time, but there's a meaning to everything..:-)...

I truly love this candid. Most of my favorites of our children in that same age range are similar kinds of candid shots. There is so much more of "them" (as in personality) that shows in shots like this. I can understand why this is now a favorite of yours. Bravo!
