But you are learning "Grasshopper". Love the motion in the wings and while normally I like more space in front of a subject for it to move into this one works somehow. The shallow DOF accents the bird and it's implied movement. Nice.
Kathleen is right, it is a red-winged blackbird. I have it's song memorized because there used to be one that would sit in the farm field across from my school bus stop when I was a little kid and I would see and hear him each morning.
I like how the blackberry (the real kind, not that electronic thing) bush adds a nice element to the composition, almost leading my eye right to the bird. Normally, I would like more space in front of the bird, too, but having the blackberry bush in there obviates that. It's like I would expect him to be landing on it. Nice job.
This is really outstanding. I don't see too many of these red-winged blackbirds but it is a treat when I do. I am never good at capturing birds in flight. This is truly impressive.
