But you are learning "Grasshopper". Love the motion in the wings and while normally I like more space in front of a subject for it to move into this one works somehow. The shallow DOF accents the bird and it's implied movement. Nice.

Stupendously beautiful, Betsy! If you make prints of this please let me know.

(It's a Red-winged blackbird, Agelaius phoeniceus.)

Kathleen is right, it is a red-winged blackbird. I have it's song memorized because there used to be one that would sit in the farm field across from my school bus stop when I was a little kid and I would see and hear him each morning.
I like how the blackberry (the real kind, not that electronic thing) bush adds a nice element to the composition, almost leading my eye right to the bird. Normally, I would like more space in front of the bird, too, but having the blackberry bush in there obviates that. It's like I would expect him to be landing on it. Nice job.

Terrific capture. We had lots of them in Sequim, but I am terrible with names.

Lovely. The muted colors of the landscape cause the red and yellow stand out. Love the shallow DOF.

One brother is a bird and knows everything. The other calls the small ones dickie birds and large ones chickens.

This is really outstanding. I don't see too many of these red-winged blackbirds but it is a treat when I do. I am never good at capturing birds in flight. This is truly impressive.
