80 feet of the waterline... nicely making way

Okay, so it wasn't an 80-footer, but I kept singing the CSN song "Southern Cross" in my head while I snoozed on this lovely sail on the last day of the workshop. It was the only day we had questionable weather, but it made for a misty, moody (albeit dead calm) but relaxing sail.

This ends my Maine series.. hoe you enjoyed it! ps. I know my horizon is wonky, don't care!

I like "wonky" horizons, so yours is just perfect by my standards. There are others here, though, who may differ. Hahahaha! It's a really good shot, I think the horizon's angle helps lend a real sense of movement of the boat. And I like seeing that other boat near the horizon line; helps with scale, plus it's just a nice feature to look at.

Flapping sheets, sea spray, and rolling with the waves, was it ? As for the level of the horizon, in a marine shot like this it dosen't matter one jot ! in fact it improves the image :)

In many cases, I would be one of those that differ about the wonky horizon (I like that term, by the way). But in this case, I think it adds a sense of motion and feeling about being on the boat. I believe it's more important, compositionally, that the left edge of the spinnaker is aligned with the frame, as you have done here. The other boat and the mountains in the background add nicely to the image. I wonder how this would look if you were to warm it up a bit? This really makes me miss being Down East.

By the way, this happens to be my favorite CSN tune and they're one of my favorite bands. What a coincidence that their CD was playing on my car stereo this morning. And no, I didnt see them perform at Woodstock. :)

Oh my Gosh, I've been missing so much, I adore this shot, crooked horizon and all...it's a real beauty Betsy, and to say I missed this 'cause the house needed cleaning...that's horrible ;)
