It's almost here. We are only days away from the Winter Solstice.
Lately, I have been getting up earlier in an effort to get a jump on the day - I don't mind that it's pitch black because I get to be a part of the light coming up - the full first light-serene-quiet-peaceful-sunrise morning experience. Even if I can't be outside with my camera, I still enjoy this time.
To think there were entire years of my life where I slept through these times of the day!?
Please visit Justin Gaynor's holiday photoblog http://www.tistheseasonphotoblog.com/ It rocks!

Whistled...it's so beautiful in warm earthy tones, I see you had no problem with that title ;) I tried to visit your suggestion but for some reason it takes forever and I lose patience:)

also to let you know that I don't disrespect your suggestion, I clicked it. Then I went to the washroom, washed my hands, petted my cats (I have 3) went to the kitchen microwaved a whole wheat Bagel for one minute then sliced it and put it in the toaster, than added margarine and pb and went to sit in front of my computer, where the site was still uploading, so I decided to leave the sight unseen and suddenly a photo of a beautiful dog appeared, so I thought oh good, finally and then my computer crashed. See, i take your suggestions very seriously ;)

I like the soft, muted colors in this one. Do you know what sort of plant this is? I never saw this before.

@Russ: hey russ - I'm not sure either - it looked very much like a late season hydrangea, dried and brown - but don't rely on my field ID skills!!
A elegant photo! Dream colors!

Lovely colors, depth of field, and light! Very nice. Did you take this photo early in the morning? I am trying to get up early also, but...... I find it difficult to get out in the cold early in the day.

@Anita: around 9:30am... not so early - usually I drop the kids at preschool and try to shoot for an hour -- I wish I could be out in the early am, but alas, the kiddies!!
Wonderful soft colors! This is definitely a dried hydrangea blossom - my aunt has a bush in her front yard, and it looks just like these.

Really pretty -- I think a variety of hydrangea also. Love, YM
