I have a little story for today. So, it has been clean and purge week around the Barron household. Starting with the kids' rooms, the closets, the office and on and on. My husband and I have vowed to live cleaner and with less 'stuff' accumulating in piles about our feet.
In cleaning out our photo cabinet (you know the one... the one you quickly shut the doors on before everything comes toppling down).. I found a box labeled 28-105 lens. And I thought to myself, do I HAVE a 28-105 lens? YES! I do! From my Elan 7 35mm camera. And you know what? It's an EF model lens which means it fits on my 5D body!
First of all, I feel like an idiot. Second of all, I've been canceling photography jobs because my 24-70 is in the shop. And finally, it just goes to show how too much STUFF will prohibit you from seeing all that you actually HAVE!
We will be applying this theory to every aspect of life from now on and I hope in preparation for Thanksgiving, a celebration of the plentiful bounty, this will inspire YOU to do the same ! :)
ps. this image shot with the 28-105 during our FIRST SNOW OF THE YEAR!

A beautiful image!

Well here's something we never see in tropical Florida. And believe it or not, I do truly miss the first snows of fall/winter (thru about the end of December). So this is a visual treat.
And your story is great, along with your lens discovery. I am happy for you -- had a somewhat similar one myself, as I recently re-discovered a near-forgotten wide angle lens that fit both my Nikons (SLR and DSLR). Your de-clutter plan is a good one, we're working in that direction slowly but surely at the VF home. And then comes Christmas, and we drag out all that extra decorating stuff and get new stuff and it starts again...

Snow and fall leaves - what luck...we had rain at our house! Glad you found a replacement lense...good to go!

Beautiful contrast between the golden yellow leaves and the snow. I'm glad you were able to capture this. I was too tied up to go shoot our first snowfall and I'm bummin' about it. I'm glad to see that lens dropped into your lap (sorry...couldn't resist that one...you can hit me later). If you want help cleaning and organizing, I will send my wife. She's very good at pitching out anything that sits still longer than 30 minutes (fortunately, I haven't been pitched out yet). I can't leave anything out for very long otherwise she'll put it someplace where I can't find it.

Beautiful shot Betsy, well done! I ad a similar lens experience recently, I thought I didn't have anything covering the 55-70mm range, until I looked through my old film camera kit for stuff to get rid of and found a lovely 24-70mm lens that'll fit my 400D :)

This is a magnificent shot once again. I think you should prepare a collection of four seasons tree photos and submit them for publication. They are all so very good and should be shared with the masses. I do mean this. Insofar as eliminating "stuff", Y.D. and I are planning on doing the same -- purging ourselves of accumulations of things we don't even know we have. So anything not used in the past 2 years is going to someone else who might actually value it enough to use it. At least that's the plan....I'm on board, but is HE??? I think that goes for your household too -- is my SIL on board? Love you, Y.M.
